Rose petal
A new gown just joined my Fall 2023/4 group.
It started with an old design that I did when I launched my doll’s fashion in 2014.
The collection featured fashion from Rene Grau fashion illustrations.
Most of the designs were by Dior.
So, I chose one of the dresses and updated it.
I used a rust silk dupioni for the outer shell of the dress and the bolero.
The top has a sweetheart shape, closes with a zipper and hook in the back and has two silk ribbons ties at the shoulders.
The underskirt has a few layers of tulle in various lengths, in black rust and gold.
The decoration of the skirt is done with mulberry paper rose petals that I cut and dyed to get a complimenting color to the skirt.
I scattered the petals on the skirt and glued them wherever they landed, giving me an irregular pattern.
The waist has a tie that is made from the same silk, fastened along the front and side seams and tied in the back.
The bolero is lined with the same silk as the outer shell and at first, I planned on covering it with rose blooms.
