Lucille
A new outfit in the Avant Garde group.
It started with a pattern of a corset that I worked on for a while to get the right fit for the Glamour Oz doll.
After getting fit right, I adjusted the pattern adding length, so the bodice includes the hips and goes down to just above the knees.
I had about ¾ of a yard of peach silk dupioni which I reserved for this outfit.
I cut the outside shell in the peach dupioni and lined with flesh tone china silk.
It took a while to get the top together, with all the top stitching.
Once the top was done and the fitness was to my satisfaction, I added some light padding to the cups which helped with the fitting as well.
Then it was time to add the pleated part of the dress. I did it in two parts. One part, using my pleater board that covered about ¾ of the hem line and second part that was hand folded to add more fullness to the back.
This was all done with the same peach silk and china silk lining.
Then it was time to add the top drape.
I did some research, until I found the right look that I was looking for.
I cut a 6” band of the silk and attached peach tulle the same size. I started draping it around the dress and pinned it down.
In order to get a nice way of attaching it to the dress, I used Swarovski pearl beads sewn where I attached the drape to the dress.
This completed the dress and gave it the gilded age flair that I was after.
The head dress was done using peach silk with wire inside and the pearl beads for decoration.
The earrings and necklace were done using peach hanging bead chain.
Included with the outfit is a pair of gold shimmer tights and pink midcalf shoes.
Doll is not included.
